V&A Dundee

The museum will feature permanent Scottish design galleries as well as an international program of temporary exhibitions that will allow visitors to admire the works of the best international designers.

The V&A Dundee, the first museum of Scottish design, will be open to the public on September 15, 2018. The building, designed by the Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, will be the only V&A museum in the world outside of London and will serve as an international hub for design, research and education. The structure, inspired by the spectacular cliffs that lie along the east coast of Scotland, is located within the project of renovation of the Dundee promenade from the cost of almost a billion pounds.

"After many years of planning for the V & A Dundee, we are absolutely thrilled to announce the opening date of the new museum," said Philip Long, director of the museum. "In just eight months we will open the doors and welcome our first visitors. The V & A Dundee is destined to be a new and vital cultural organization for the city and the whole of the United Kingdom.
