Teopanzolco Cultural center

Isaac Broid in collaboration with "productora" have designed the ’teopanzolco cultural center’.

The project consists of a large auditorium with more than 900 seats, located near an archaeological site in the city of Cuernavaca, in the state of Morelos, Mexico. The building embraces the existing slope in the site, exploiting it to create sublime lines. The open-air auditorium on the roof offers breathtaking panoramic views of the ruins and the city.

Designers have demonstrated to embrace the past and the present through their approach to the project: in fact, the auditorium is on a large open platform, alluding to the ceremonial centers of pre-colonial Mexico. In addition, the structure is organized with a simple geometry of pure triangles whose contemporary language works in harmony with the language of the archaeological environment.
The main lobby, placed on an axis that coincides with that of the main teapot pyramid, is the only space covered on the large platform and has large bellows doors that allow free air circulation.

"The cultural center functions as a meeting space, both before and after events, a sober and elegant space in which contemporary cultural life establishes a continuous dialogue with our past," explains Isaac Broid. ’A space that promotes a unified future’.
