Oman botanic garden

The "Grimshaw architects" studio together with Arup Enginering and Haley Sharpe design has created the design of this modern "own botanic garden", the largest ever made in the Arabian peninsula.

Designed with the guidance of the great Sultan Qaboos Bin Said al Said, the garden will celebrate and preserve at the same time the botanical biodiversity of the country, which includes hundreds of endangered species.

The facility, located 35km from Muscat, was built in a very special place. It is one of the few places in the peninsula that allows you to admire the ocean bed that once submerged the area. Arup and Grimshaw have worked using existing natural ridges and ravines that cross the site to design buildings and walkways, accurately integrating them into spectacular waves.

The design strategy includes passive and active shading, natural light optimization, efficient refrigeration and irrigation of plants.
