Casa Vincens

After a break due to a refurbishment process, Casa Vincens reopens in mid-November. Work by Antoni Gaudí located in Barcelona, Spain.

The imposing renovation by Daw Office and Martiñez Lapeña Torres Arquitectes has brought the house to its original charm, transforming it into a true museum. The house now gains new value, becoming a true cultural space for all Gaudí lovers. In addition to hosting visitors, the house includes an exhibition space and a souvenir shop.

The building was born as a holiday home between 1883 and 1885. It was commissioned to Gaudí by a wealthy industrial Manel Vicens. The style of the house, made of opaque bricks and stones, with geometry and unique shapes, fully reflects the feelings of its creator. This was his first work.

In 1925, Jover’s family, who bought the house in 1899, commissioned Gaudí’s friend, Joan Baptista Serra de Martínez, the project for expanding the house. It became so bigger and divided into three independent apartments. In 2005, UNESCO declared Casa Vicens World Heritage, bringing the number of buildings attributed to Gaudí to six. It will open to the public on November 16th.
