Align Project

Milou Bergs, a graduate of the Design Academy in Eindhoven, Netherlands, has designed a modern and efficient bicycle parking system.

This opens only when necessary and represents a viable alternative to all its competitors who occupy more space and hinder mobility. The project faces both the aspect of road safety and what it has on public spaces. After studying in the Netherlands, a country renowned for its cycling volume, Bergs focused on improving bicycle parking.

"I began to think about how I can make a space visually and physically serene while maintaining the functionality of the storage."

The Bergs prototype works by using a mechanism based on the weight of the bicycle. When the weight of the front wheel is detected by a panel on the floor, a bracket rises and locks on the rear wheel, blocking the bicycle perfectly. When the bicycle is removed, the bracket "disappears completely", hiding inside the floor.

The project has already attracted the attention of Dutch municipalities which, according to the designer, have shown interest in implementing the project for the care of public spaces.
