A musical studio in the garden

This musical studio, housed in a home in Newcastle City, South Wales, resembles a small house because of the small porch at the entrance.

Indeed the interior environment can be quietly habitable as if it were a real home room. The M3 architecture studio has created this studio at the customer’s request, a musician, designing a space where he could compose music and play in serenity.

Working within a limited budget, a selection of inexpensive materials was used to build the study. The walls and ceiling are made of plasterboard and covered with cement fiber.

The painted white walls and the light wood floor create a delicate contrast with part of the painted interior walls with a navy blue. Tall over three meters, the ceiling helps capture sound and improves the acoustics of the instruments. To complete the work, a small bathroom behind the back wall of the studio and a sofa bed were inserted so that the room could be transformed into a guest room.
